Spend a day rolling molten silver and pouring it into organic molds created from water dropping, pasta, chickpeas and the skeleton of a cuttlefish! This is a fascinating journey into recycling metal in creative ways and the textures that are created are beautifully organic and tactile. We'll spend time considering our results and you'll learn how to combine them into wearable pieces of art. Who is it for? Beginners onwards. Please note that a good level of dexterity and eyesight is required. Over 16s with accompanying adult. What will I learn? How to prepare a crucible, roll and pour molten metal. How to use a furnace to melt metal. Carving into cuttlefish and creating a pouring button Binding, preparing and safely casting using a cuttlefish Drop pouring into water to create sculptural water cast pieces. Drop pouring into other cavities created by pasta, beans or even chickpeas. How to solder and combine your pieces into wearable treasures. Finishing and polishing of your pieces. What's included Included in the day is the use of all the equipment required, 30g of silver for melting (additional available to purchase), casting materials and sterling silver findings to complete your pieces. The workshop also includes tea, coffee and biscuits. We break for an hour between 12.30 and 1.30 for lunch. What shall I bring? Reading glasses if you use them and magnifying goggles if you have them. Closed toed shoes are advised and please tie long hair back and avoid loose flappy clothes.
